A former All-Pro player opted to sign with the Dallas Cowboys instead of joining the San Francisco 49ers in 2024, despite being offered more money by the 49ers.

The Dallas Cowboys, facing financial constraints this offseason, have been limited in their ability to make significant moves in NFL free agency. However, they managed to secure a notable signing in Eric Kendricks, a one-time All-Pro and veteran linebacker, who agreed to a one-year contract worth just $3 million with the Cowboys. This was considered a team-friendly deal, especially considering that Kendricks allegedly turned down a more lucrative offer from the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.

The decision to choose the Cowboys over the 49ers could be attributed to factors such as the influence of new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer or differences in the cost of living and taxes between Texas and northern California. Despite the financial incentive offered by the 49ers, Kendricks was swayed by the opportunity to join the Dallas defense and opted to take a discounted rate to play for them in the upcoming season.
