Tyler Kolek, the point guard for Marquette Golden Eagles, has been out of action since February 28 due to an oblique injury, missing the last six games including the Big East Conference tournament. Despite speculation about his return, he did not play in the tournament final. However, head coach Shaka Smart indicated in an interview with CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein that Kolek is expected to return for the NCAA Tournament game against Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Friday.

Kolek’s absence has been felt by the Golden Eagles, as they aim for a deep run in the tournament. With a regular season average of 15.0 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 7.6 APG in 28 games, his presence is crucial for Marquette’s success. Fans are wary of potential tough matchups, especially against teams like Florida Gators, Houston Cougars, and Kentucky Wildcats in their bracket. Despite having other skilled players like David Joplin, Oso Ighodaro, and Kam Jones, Kolek’s return could be the deciding factor between an early exit and a possible journey to the Final Four.
