The Pittsburgh Steelers made significant roster moves by signing two players to deals. They inked a two-year contract with special teams standout Miles Killebrew and reached an agreement on a one-year deal with wide receiver Van Jefferson.

Killebrew, recognized as an All-Pro for his special teams prowess in 2023, contributed 13 tackles in kick coverage and had a crucial blocked punt that resulted in a safety during a game against Baltimore. Additionally, he saw increased defensive playing time with 111 snaps, marking his most extensive defensive involvement since joining the Steelers in 2021 after spending five seasons in Detroit.

Jefferson, aged 27, joins Pittsburgh after stints with Atlanta and the Los Angeles Rams. With 113 career receptions for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns across 61 games, most of which were with the Rams, he brings valuable experience to the team.

The Steelers’ signings come at a time when they are looking to bolster their receiving corps, having recently traded Diontae Johnson to Carolina and losing Miles Boykin in free agency. Currently, George Pickens and Calvin Austin are the only receivers on the roster who caught passes for the team in 2023, highlighting the need for additional depth at the position.
