According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, former Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley has inked a four-year contract with the Tennessee Titans in free agency. The deal is valued at $92 million overall, with $50 million guaranteed for the 29-year-old, who entered the NFL draft in 2018. Ridley spent the previous season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he racked up over 1,000 yards on 76 receptions and scored eight touchdowns during his sole season in Florida.
Returning to the NFL last season after serving a one-year suspension for gambling, which sidelined him for the entire 2022 NFL season, Ridley began his career in Atlanta, the team that selected him in the first round in 2018. While with the Falcons, he battled various injuries but enjoyed success early on, playing alongside fellow former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones.
Despite Ridley’s age of 29, he has only completed five full seasons in the NFL, potentially explaining the lengthy deal he secured with Tennessee. The Titans are in a rebuilding phase, having recently lost their cornerstone player Derrick Henry to the Baltimore Ravens in free agency and introducing rookie quarterback Will Levis last season.
Ridley’s move follows that of another former Alabama wideout, Jerry Jeudy, who was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Cleveland Browns earlier in the NFL offseason.
