Max Verstappen has reportedly engaged in confidential discussions with FIA President Mohammad Ben Sulayem concerning the Christian Horner controversy at Red Bull. Despite Horner being cleared of alleged ‘inappropriate behavior’ through an internal investigation, the incident continued to overshadow the first F1 race of the season in Bahrain. Verstappen’s father clashed with Horner during the event, prompting calls for the latter’s dismissal. Reports suggest that the Dutch world champion may even consider leaving Red Bull. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has urged the FIA to address the Horner scandal. According to the Daily Mail, Sulayem privately spoke with Verstappen, urging him to publicly support Horner. However, Verstappen appeared skeptical about the advice. While Verstappen has largely avoided addressing the scandal, he did refer to Horner as an ‘incredible team boss’ before the Bahrain Grand Prix. Despite the controversy, Horner claims to have the unwavering support of Red Bull’s owners, even after alleged leaked text messages.
