FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has commented on the investigation involving Christian Horner, stating that the headlines surrounding the Red Bull team boss are “damaging” to Formula 1. After meeting with Horner in Bahrain, Ben Sulayem refrained from disclosing specific details but expressed concern about the negative impact the saga has on the sport. Despite Horner being cleared by Red Bull GmbH following an investigation into alleged misconduct, a subsequent email release pertaining to the inquiry kept the issue in the public eye. Ben Sulayem, addressing the situation, emphasized the need to shield the sport from such controversies, considering the beginning of the season and F1’s increasing popularity. He noted that the FIA did not plan to conduct its investigation as no formal complaint had been filed with the governing body. Former F1 driver and pundit Martin Brundle expressed sadness about the situation, highlighting its negative impact on F1’s public image and calling for actions to conclude the matter.

Martin Brundle, a former F1 driver turned pundit, expressed deep sorrow about the Christian Horner investigation, describing it as a “horrible situation” for all parties involved. On Sky Sports, Brundle conveyed his personal sadness, noting that numerous individuals are being drawn into the matter. He emphasized that F1 is dominating headlines globally, not for racing-related matters like Grand Prix winners or pole positions. Brundle unequivocally stated that the ongoing situation is detrimental to F1, urging decisive actions to bring it to a conclusive end. Despite feeling that this marks the beginning rather than the end of the story, he acknowledged the need to wait and observe developments. Brundle concluded by highlighting that all allegations have been denied, characterizing the situation as undeniably distressing from every perspective.
