JUST IN: Lions Are Said to Give Amon-Ra St. Brown a $100 Million Commitment………

Since the arrival of general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell in 2021, the Detroit Lions have strategically developed their roster, transforming from a struggling team into a potential Super Bowl contender. As they face the next challenge of managing their roster, the Lions are poised to address contract extensions for key players.

Mike Payton of AtoZ Sports anticipates that the Lions will commit over $350 million to three significant deals this offseason. Amon-Ra St. Brown, emerging as one of the league’s top wide receivers, is expected to receive one of the substantial extensions. In 2023, St. Brown excelled in various receiving categories, securing 119 receptions for 1,515 yards and 13 touchdowns. Payton predicts a four-year deal worth $100 million for St. Brown, securing his services before the final year of his rookie contract.

Additionally, Payton forecasts a four-year, $190 million extension for quarterback Jared Goff, aiming to maintain continuity in the team’s passing game. Other potential moves include exercising the fifth-year option on Penei Sewell and pursuing a long-term deal for the key offensive lineman.

To navigate the salary cap, Payton predicts the Lions will restructure contracts for Frank Ragnow, Taylor Decker, and Cameron Sutton, resulting in a total savings of $17.8 million.

There are indications that the Lions are actively working towards extending St. Brown’s contract. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported on February 29 that the team expressed a desire to sign St. Brown to an extension this offseason, scheduling a meeting with his representatives at the NFL combine. While the timeline for the deal remains uncertain, there is optimism that it will materialize as the Lions prioritize investing in their roster during the offseason.
