Marshawn Lynch, the former running back, faced a DUI charge as per Las Vegas Municipal Court records on Wednesday. However, his attorneys revealed that the case will be resolved as a reckless driving offense, pending fulfillment of certain conditions outlined in a plea agreement. Initially scheduled for trial on Wednesday, the charges against Lynch stemmed from his arrest on August 9, 2022, in Las Vegas when authorities discovered him asleep in the driver’s seat of a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which was deemed inoperable due to a missing front wheel and severely damaged rear wheel. Subsequently, he was charged with DUI and other offenses, but his legal team announced the resolution of the case on Wednesday.

In a statement to local media, Lynch’s attorneys, Richard Schonfeld and David Chesnoff, emphasized that Lynch has not been convicted of any offense yet. They disclosed that Lynch has agreed to meet specific requirements, leading to the closure of the case as a reckless driving traffic offense. As part of the agreement, Lynch, aged 37, agreed to enroll in DUI traffic school, pay a $1,140 fine, and complete 200 hours of community service. Additionally, he must attend a victim impact panel, undergo an alcohol evaluation, and maintain a clean record for one year. Misdemeanor charges related to failure to drive in a travel lane and driving an unregistered vehicle were dismissed. Lynch is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on May 21, according to local media reports.

Las Vegas city officials responded to inquiries by providing a copy of Lynch’s signed written agreement. Lynch, known for his prolific NFL career primarily with the Seattle Seahawks, amassed 10,413 yards and 85 touchdowns rushing over 12 seasons. Since retiring, he has been involved in Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” coverage.
