In a candid discussion on Tampa Bay’s sports radio station 95.3 WDAE, David openly expressed his preference to remain with the Buccaneers for the remainder of his career. Reflecting on the profound significance of the city of Tampa to him, he articulated his wish to retire as a Buccaneer, emphasizing the importance of mutual agreement in such a decision.

Having recently completed a two-year, $25 million contract, David now finds himself among the 18 free agents for the Buccaneers in the offseason. While it’s a competitive market with notable teammates like Mike Evans, Antoine Winfield Jr., and Baker Mayfield also seeking lucrative deals, retaining David remains a top priority for head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht.

Throughout his illustrious tenure spanning 12 seasons, David has amassed an impressive array of statistics, including 1,480 tackles, 160 tackles for loss, 67 quarterback hits, 33.5 sacks, 28 forced fumbles, 18 fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions, and two touchdowns. Despite potentially passing his peak performance years, David continues to deliver solid numbers late in his career, as evidenced by his notable contributions during the 2023 season, where he recorded 134 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
