Eagles’ Newest Actions Emphasize Looking Where Others Won’t.NFL: Jim Harbaugh leaves San Francisco 49ers after four years as head coach | NFL News | Sky Sports

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Eagles made strategic moves on Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming league year, securing the services of two 2022 draft selections through futures contracts. Running back Ty Davis-Price and offensive tackle Darian Kinnard, both chosen in the 2022 draft, inked deals with the Eagles. Davis-Price, a former LSU standout and the 93rd overall pick by San Francisco, stands out as the primary focus due to securing the most favorable contract among the 396 futures deals issued thus far. This indicates a significant opportunity for him to showcase his talents during the spring and summer with the Eagles.

In contrast to his limited role in San Francisco, where competition was stiff, Davis-Price finds a promising opportunity in Philadelphia, where only two other running backs, expected 2024 contributor Kenny Gainwell and fellow signee Lew Nichols, are currently under contract. The prospect of additional running backs being added to the roster looms, and the potential return of 2023 lead-back D’Andre Swift is uncertain, depending on external offers. Early indications suggest Swift’s preference for an offensive system that maximizes his receiving and running skills. However, his return to Philadelphia remains uncertain, given the possibility of attractive offers from other teams.

While the details of Davis-Price’s contract are not disclosed, the absence of information implies that he may have surpassed edge defender Julian Okwara’s recent one-year deal with Philadelphia, valued up to $2.675 million. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 219 pounds, Davis-Price’s impressive pre-draft 4.48 40-time contributed to his elevated draft position in 2022. Despite a modest performance with the 49ers, his potential is underscored by the strategic move by Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman, who invested in promising talents at positions where the team needs reinforcement.

On the offensive line, Darian Kinnard, a 6-foot-5, 322-pound player, had previously caught the attention of Eagles’ coach Jeff Stoutland during the 2022 draft process. Although primarily a natural right tackle, there is speculation about a potential shift inside at the professional level. Kinnard, with two Super Bowl rings from his time on the Kansas City practice squad, opted to explore opportunities in Philadelphia, possibly seeking a new chance in a team facing impending free agency for backups Jack Driscoll and Sua Opeta.

While the future contributions of players on futures deals are unpredictable, the Eagles, known for their success in unconventional strategies, have strategically invested in potential contributors, recognizing the importance of careful attention to the futures market, an often overlooked aspect of team building.
