Georgia Football Gunslinger Report The 2024 Offseason’s Carson Beck is still favored to win the Heisman Trophy.
Despite only suffering one defeat last season, the Georgia football program failed to make it to the College Football Playoff for the first time in three seasons. Their loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship led to their exclusion from the four-team playoff by a single spot. Looking ahead to the next season, Kirby Smart and the Georgia football team aim to make a comeback, especially with the CFP expanding to include 12 teams. Las Vegas is optimistic about their prospects, evident in the recently released pre-spring odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, where returning quarterback Carson Beck is considered the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy.
In the latest Heisman odds, Carson Beck is tied for the top spot with Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, who has decided to return to Texas next season. Beck’s return to Georgia for his fifth season follows his tenure playing behind two-time College Football Playoff champion Stetson Bennett. In his inaugural season as the starting quarterback, Beck threw for 3,941 yards, ranking second in franchise history. He also achieved a 72.4% completion rate, placing fourth in the nation in that category. According to 247Sports, Beck had an impressive streak of 11 consecutive games with 250 passing yards, matching Bennett’s record-setting performance in 2022. Beck concluded the season with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Despite the loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship, Beck displayed a strong performance, throwing for 243 yards with no scores or interceptions. In the Orange Bowl against the Florida State Seminoles, he went 13 of 18 for 203 yards, contributing two touchdowns without any interceptions.
Looking forward to the 2024 season, Georgia football aims to return to the College Football Playoff, especially after the disappointment of missing out in the previous season. The Bulldogs had achieved national titles in 2021 and 2022, going 14-1 and 15-0, respectively. However, last season mirrored their 2021 success until the SEC Championship loss to Alabama, which prevented them from a three-peat in the CFP.
