QB Joe Flacco of the Browns Teases His Next Move.Browns release Odell Beckham Jr.

The Cleveland Browns remain a viable option for Joe Flacco’s services in the upcoming season. As the 39-year-old, named Comeback Player of the Year, becomes a free agent after an impressive stint with the Browns, he expresses interest in a potential return. Flacco, who initially joined the practice squad, quickly became the starter and excelled in the latter part of the season, leading the NFL in passing yards and contributing 13 touchdown passes from Week 13 onwards.

Despite initial doubts about his NFL future before joining the Browns, Flacco is determined to continue playing and is open to reuniting with the team that provided him with a positive experience. While acknowledging that starting opportunities might be limited, he emphasizes his desire to keep playing until he is unable to contribute on the field anymore.

The Browns, reciprocating the positive sentiments, express a keen interest in having Flacco back. Browns GM Andrew Berry indicates a willingness to welcome Flacco in a backup role, particularly behind Deshaun Watson. Berry acknowledges the importance of the backup quarterback position and hints at the team’s intention to carry three quarterbacks on the roster, emphasizing its significance within the team structure.

If Flacco doesn’t return, the Browns could consider Jacoby Brissett as an alternative. Brissett, who previously served as a backup quarterback in Cleveland, had a solid season with the Browns in 2022-23, and there is a possibility of reuniting with him if Flacco pursues other opportunities. The focus for the Browns is on solidifying their quarterback positions, especially considering Watson’s status as the highest-paid player on the roster and the team’s aspirations for a successful run at the Super Bowl.

In summary, the Browns and Joe Flacco share mutual interest in a potential reunion for the upcoming season, but the team is also exploring alternative options, such as Jacoby Brissett, to bolster their quarterback depth.
