Grant Williams is poised to seize greater opportunities with the struggling Charlotte Hornets compared to his stint with the Dallas Mavericks this season. His time with the Mavericks, which abruptly concluded when he was traded to the Hornets at the NBA deadline, was marked by a swift exit despite the four-year, $53.3 million deal he received in the offseason.

In his debut with the Hornets, Williams showcased a promising performance, scoring 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds in a 32-minute stint off the bench. Expressing his satisfaction with the new team, Williams subtly criticized the Mavericks, highlighting the collaborative and team-oriented approach in Charlotte, contrasting it with what he perceived as selfish actions in Dallas.

Williams struggled to establish a consistent role with the Mavericks, alternating between starting and coming off the bench in 33 out of 47 games, averaging 8.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Known for his outspoken nature, Williams hinted at potential confrontations when the Hornets face the Mavericks on April 9, and he is also set to play against the Celtics, his former team, twice before the regular season concludes.
