Nick Nurse Explains Tobias Harris’ Absence vs. Cavaliers.

A Guide to the Philadelphia 76ers | Visit Philadelphia

The injury report for the Philadelphia 76ers in their Monday night game against the Cleveland Cavaliers featured familiar names that have been listed for the past few weeks, such as De’Anthony Melton, Robert Covington, Nicolas Batum, and Joel Embiid. However, a new addition to the list was Tobias Harris, who was included in the report midday due to a left hip impingement. This development marked Harris’s fifth absence from games since the beginning of the year. Consequently, he sat out the Monday night victory against the Cavaliers. Sixers’ head coach Nick Nurse shed light on the situation after the game, revealing that the concern about Harris’s injury surfaced during the team’s shootaround.

Nurse expressed surprise at the unexpected development, stating that Harris didn’t appear to be in great condition during the shootaround. Although Harris’s movement seemed restricted, Nurse initially attributed it to normal soreness. When informed of Harris’s imminent absence, Nurse had little time to contemplate a replacement and swiftly turned to the next player in line. Despite the lack of time for deliberation, Nurse explained that such situations have become routine, and the focus is simply on moving forward.

To fill Harris’s spot, Nurse chose to start KJ Martin, who delivered a solid performance with ten points and eight rebounds, contributing to the Sixers’ victory. Nurse did not provide any further updates on Harris’s health, but mentioned that Harris would have a rest day on Tuesday before the Sixers faced the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
