Prospects for the Raiders NFL Draft: T Amarius Mims, Georgia.
Selecting a player from a championship program significantly reduces the risk for an NFL team during the draft. The Las Vegas Raiders have an opportunity in the 2024 NFL Draft to address their need for an offensive tackle by considering Amarius Mims from Georgia, a college football powerhouse in recent years. Despite Mims’ limited playing time in the past season due to injuries, he remains one of the top prospects at his position in this year’s draft. Mims, who contributed to Georgia’s 2022-23 title run, could provide valuable championship experience and enhance team chemistry, having been teammates with Raiders’ running back Zamir White and safety Christopher Smith II at Georgia.
On the field, Mims is recognized for his solid pass protection skills, combining size (6-foot-7, 340 pounds) and athleticism. If the Raiders decide to draft Mims in 2024, it would mark the third consecutive year of selecting a Georgia prospect. Pro Football Focus rated Mims with an overall blocking grade of 75.6 for the 2023 season, including a run-block grade of 68.4 and a pass-block grade of 81.2.
As the NFL Scouting Combine approaches from February 27 to March 4, 2024, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and the NFL Draft scheduled for April 25-27, 2024, in Detroit, the Raiders, currently holding the No. 13 overall pick, have the opportunity to strengthen their pass game with the addition of Amarius Mims.
