As Newcastle’s star is “likely” to “force” his way out amid a “contract stand-off,” the Magpies are “eyeing” Liverpool.
Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron were subject to transfer speculations in January, with interest from Bayern Munich and the Saudi Pro League. Despite this, Newcastle retained both players.
Another potential departure from Newcastle is Joelinton, who faced challenges initially but has flourished since transitioning into a centre-midfielder. His contract, set to expire in 2025, has been a point of contention, and recent reports from The Daily Mail suggested that he might have played his last game for the club due to an ongoing contract stand-off. This unresolved situation could likely lead to his departure before the summer.
Joelinton is currently sidelined for the rest of the season due to thigh surgery. Manager Eddie Howe acknowledged the possibility of selling him later this year, stating, “I’m not a fortune-teller, and I certainly hope that is not the case. There is a possibility that could be the case, but I don’t know. Eighteen months [left on a contract] is a vulnerable time for a club. The club will need to tie Joe down to a longer-term contract, or there is a possibility he will be sold in the summer. That is just the reality of the situation.”
