Tampa (Fla.) Zephyrhills standout DJ Pickett, a highly-rated cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite, disclosed his top five college choices on Friday. Pickett has narrowed down his options to Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, LSU, and Miami, citing his strong connections with the coaching staff at these schools. These five institutions will also be the destinations for his official visits.

In a recent discussion with 247Sports, Pickett shared his experiences from visits to Miami, LSU, and Oregon. During his visit to Miami, he enjoyed spending time with his cousin Booker Pickett Jr., who signed with the Hurricanes in the 2024 cycle. Pickett expressed the desire to play alongside his cousin again. Miami’s proximity to his home, the positive impression of Coach Cristobal, and the strong defensive line were factors that caught his attention.

Pickett also talked about his visit to LSU, where he reconnected with defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, who was previously his lead recruiter at Florida. The relationship with Coach Raymond and the overall atmosphere at LSU contributed to his positive outlook. Pickett plans to attend a spring practice in Baton Rouge.

His visit to Oregon left a favorable impression, with Pickett noting his comfort with the coaching staff and the positive environment around the program. Oregon’s willingness to explore both offensive and defensive roles for him intrigued Pickett, and he is excited about the program’s trajectory under coach Dan Lanning.

Michigan and Georgia also made a strong impression on Pickett. He highlighted his close bond with Coach Steve Clinck at Michigan, emphasizing the importance of the coaching staff in his decision-making process. Similarly, at Georgia, he mentioned the positive relationships with coaches Travaris Robinson and Kirby Smart.

Pickett, recognized as the top recruit in Florida and the seventh-ranked player nationally by the 247Sports Composite, shared his statistics from his junior and sophomore years, showcasing his skills both as a cornerback and on offense.
