DJ Pickett, a highly-rated five-star cornerback from Tampa (Fla.) Zephyrhills, unveiled his top five schools on Friday, narrowing his choices to “Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, LSU, and Miami,” according to the 247Sports Composite. Pickett emphasized the significance of his connections with the coaches at these schools, declaring that these five options are exclusive, and he intends to make official visits to each.

Discussing recent visits to Miami, LSU, and Oregon with 247Sports, Pickett expressed satisfaction with his return to Coral Gables. He highlighted the significance of being with his cousin, edge rusher Booker Pickett Jr., who signed with Miami in the 2024 cycle. Pickett emphasized the unique opportunity to play alongside his cousin again. Recognized as the No. 1 recruit in Florida and the seventh-ranked player nationally by the 247Sports Composite, Pickett plans to attend a spring practice at Miami, citing its proximity to home and positive aspects like Coach Cristobal and the strong defensive line.

Pickett also visited LSU recently, reconnecting with defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, who had been his lead recruiter at Florida. Pickett praised the relationship with Raymond, and he plans to attend a spring practice in Baton Rouge. He acknowledged the appeal of LSU’s coaching staff, including Coach Baker and Coach Kelly, and their mission to build a championship-winning 2025 class.

Having enjoyed a previous visit to Oregon, Pickett returned recently with a focus on showcasing the school to his mother. He expressed satisfaction with the school, people, and facilities, indicating that he feels comfortable with the coaching staff. Oregon is set to receive an official visit from Pickett in the future. The program’s vision under Dan Lanning and the coaching staff’s commitment to building a positive culture resonated with Pickett, who is also open to the idea of playing both offense and defense.

Pickett also shared positive experiences at Michigan, where he witnessed the Wolverines defeat Ohio State over Thanksgiving weekend. His strong bond with Coach Steve Clinck and the assurance of early playing time contributed to his favorable view of Michigan. Similar sentiments were expressed regarding Georgia, where coaches Travaris Robinson and Kirby Smart stood out as mentors Pickett could learn from.

Highlighting his on-field achievements, Pickett showcased impressive statistics as both a junior and a sophomore, underscoring his prowess as a versatile and impactful player on the field.
