In a game held in Iowa City on Thursday night, No. 2 Iowa emerged victorious with a comfortable score of 111-93 against Penn State, despite Caitlin Clark not being the leading scorer. The standout performance came from Hannah Stuelke, who achieved a career-high 47 points for the Hawkeyes (22-2, 11-1 Big Ten), shooting an impressive 17-for-20 from the field and securing nine rebounds. Kate Martin contributed 16 points and 16 rebounds. Clark faced challenges against Penn State’s defense, resulting in 12 turnovers, but she still managed to accumulate 27 points and 15 assists. She is now 39 points away from breaking the NCAA Division I women’s all-time scoring record held by former Washington guard Kelsey Plum. Iowa’s next challenge is against Nebraska on Sunday. Penn State (16-7, 7-5) was led by Leilani Kapinus, who achieved a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Owusu scored 18 points, and Makenna Marisa added 12. Despite Penn State leading by two points after the first quarter, Iowa dominated the second frame, outscoring them 32-19. The Hawkeyes also outscored Penn State 52-30 in the paint during the game.
