ESPN Removes the Next National TV Game for the Mavericks.

Why do we play the national anthem before sports games? A Hang Up and Listen transcript.

On December 12, the Mavericks will not be playing on ESPN due to unforeseen circumstances.

Dallas Mavericks fans eager to catch the upcoming matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on ESPN will be disappointed, as the network has decided to alter its schedule for December 1. The originally scheduled Grizzlies vs. Mavericks game has been replaced by a showdown between the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics, as reported by Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

The adjustment has nothing to do with the Mavericks, who boast a solid 9-5 record. Rather, a significant portion of the responsibility lies with the struggling Grizzlies, who have managed only a 3-10 record during Ja Morant’s suspension. ESPN’s decision to exclude one of the league’s weakest teams from a national broadcast is understandable.

The change is also influenced by the impressive performance of the 76ers and Celtics, both being among the NBA’s top three teams. The matchup between them serves as a potential preview of the Eastern Conference Finals, featuring star-studded rosters including Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and more.

Mavericks fans can find solace in the fact that they won’t have to wait long for another nationally televised game. Their upcoming game against the LA Clippers will be broadcast on NBA TV this Saturday, followed by four more national TV appearances in December, including a Christmas Day clash with the Phoenix Suns on ESPN.

While dominating weaker teams is enjoyable, Mavericks supporters hope that future opponents won’t perform poorly enough to face a similar fate of being removed from national TV broadcasts.
