Is Panther Brock Purdy? Matt Rhule Found It Appealing
It was proposed by the former head coach of the Panthers to choose the Niners quarterback.

Throughout his brief tenure as the Carolina Panthers’ head coach, Matt Rhule was never able to get the quarterback position just perfect. However, he might have succeeded if his ideas had gained support from others.

When asked about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy during a recent news conference at Nebraska, Rhule didn’t only discuss the kind of player Purdy is; rather, he mentioned Purdy as a draft choice.

“Having played against Brock Purdy at Iowa State, I believe he is a tremendous player. I mentioned his name in the Carolina draft room, saying, “Hey guys, he should be on the draft board.” I received a veto for that one. You can inquire with Coop.

He’s talking about Evan Cooper, who was the cornerbacks coach for the Panthers for three years before joining Rhule’s staff at Nebraska.

Rhule’s interest in Purdy might have had some merit, but it’s impossible to say how serious. Did he bang on the table in his favor? Most likely not. More like, “Hey everyone, what do you think about Brock Purdy?” Everyone in the room responded “nah,” and they all left.

Chubba, Brock’s younger brother, played for Rhule during his final two years at Nebraska. Since then, he moved to Nevada.
