In this week’s Associated Press top-25 poll released on Monday afternoon, Indiana women’s basketball has returned to the No. 14 spot. The Hoosiers had a mixed performance last week, securing a victory against unranked Maryland but facing a 74-69 loss at the hands of No. 8 Ohio State on Sunday. Before the Sunday loss, Indiana held the No. 10 position, and it retained the No. 14 spot for the overall week. Ohio State’s top-10 win propelled them to No. 5 in the country, marking a remarkable rise of 13 spots in the past three weeks. Ohio State shares the top spot in the Big Ten standings with No. 2 Iowa, both holding a 10-1 record. The Hoosiers, with a 9-2 record, emphasize the significance of their upcoming game against Michigan State on Thursday.
Regarding Indiana’s nonconference opponents, Stanford slipped two places to No. 6, Princeton maintained its position at No. 25, and Tennessee received three votes just outside the top 25. South Carolina, holding an undefeated 21-0 record, remains the highest-ranked team, surpassing Iowa. Texas experienced a notable ascent, moving up five places to No. 7 after securing ranked victories against Baylor and Kansas State. In contrast, Kansas State witnessed a six-spot decline. Baylor and Indiana each dropped five and four spots, respectively. The top 10 teams exhibit diverse conference representation, with the Pac-12 leading with four, the Big Ten and Big 12 having two each, and the SEC and ACC each contributing one team—South Carolina and NC State, respectively.
