WXYZ Editorial: Detroit Lions are prepared for the NFL’s NFC Championship game.
WXYZ Detroit — What a memorable football season for the Detroit Lions, their supporters, the city, and the entire state of Michigan. They have already won two emotionally charged NFL playoff games at home. Our men in Honolulu blue and silver are only two wins away from achieving their objective of winning the Super Bowl!
But first, they must defeat the #1 seeded San Francisco 49ers in California. A victory there would mark Dan Campbell and the Ford family’s first participation in America’s biggest football tournament.
Whatever happens, the Lions have already enjoyed a fantastic and historic season. The Motor City and the Great Lakes State have not had this level of professional sports excitement since the Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers won their previous championships. Our Lions are within sight of the rainbow.
With fingers crossed, the city is fully behind our squad. The loudness of the crowd may be felt even if you are not a football enthusiast. Everywhere you turn, Detroiters, both in and out of state, are proudly sporting their Lions gear. Our blue-collar guys have become America’s “new” favorite team, because to their guts, tenacity, energy, and comeback spirit!
Enjoy this long-awaited treat, Lions fans. For anyone who questioned how good this team is, you now have the evidence you’ve been looking for. Take advantage of this opportunity for restaurants, pubs, hotels, and area leaders.
