Sad News: Texas Longhorns key player to face 3 years suspension after suspecting for….

Report: Derek Williams to serve targeted suspension in the first half of the Sugar Bowl after appeal denied.

Texas safety Derek Williams will miss the first half of the Sugar Bowl versus Washington due to a targeting call in the second half of the Big 12 championship game, according to Chip Brown.

Williams was ejected from the game, and the programme decided to appeal this week. However, that was refused, according to Brown.

As a result, Williams will not be ready to play until the second half against the Huskies’ high-powered offence.

Williams was dismissed for targeting on the second-half kickoff after colliding with a defenceless Oklahoma State player coming across the field.

Williams has been a key player for the Longhorns this season, appearing in the majority of the team’s games and making valuable contributions. He had 38 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and two pass breakups entering the Big 12 Championship Game.

Williams, a member of the Class of 2023, was a four-star recruit from New Iberia (La.) Westgate, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four major recruiting media organisations. He was the state’s No. 3 overall prospect, the No. 6 safety, and the No. 62 overall prospect in the class.

The Sugar Bowl CFP semifinal against Washington and Michael Penix Jr. just got a little more difficult without Williams. However, getting to this point is still a significant accomplishment, according to head coach Steve Sarkisian.

“I think our players kind of exuded all of the emotions we had,” Sarkisian said in a statement. “When you don’t know, which is always the difficult part when there is a committee and you’re not an undefeated team, there’s always going to be that nervousness and anxiety because you just don’t know what the discussions are in that room.”

Texas won the Big 12 title for the first time since 2009. The Longhorns last competed for the national championship in 2009, when they played in the BCS National Championship Game.
