Wests Tigers terminated David Nofoaluma’s contract as Super League clubs set to chase.

WESTS TIGERS have terminated David Nofoaluma’s contract as Super League clubs look to sign the winger.

Nofoaluma’s Tigers career comes to a bitter conclusion, with the experienced winger scoring 100 tries in 192 games for the Concord side.

However, the 30-year-old was loaned out to the Melbourne Storm at the end of the 2022 NRL season before reportedly being told by new Wests head coach Benji Marshall that he will not play first-grade for the club again.

As a result, Nofoaluma reported the claimed insults to the Rugby League Players’ Association (RLPA), where the winger sought legal assistance.

He subsequently refused to practice with the Tigers, which was viewed as the first breach, before arriving late to training following two weeks of negotiations between himself, Wests, and the RLPA.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Nofoaluma was fired after a second breach, with the Australian outlet saying that he had a gastrointestinal problem last week before going missing for 48 hours.

“Wests Tigers has today released winger David Nofoaluma from the remaining two years of his playing contract,” the club announced in a statement.

The club and the player have mutually agreed to terminate the contract, effective immediately.

“Interim CEO Shane Richardson congratulated Nofoaluma for his services to the Wests Tigers.

“We thank David for all that he has given to this club over the past decade,” stated Richardson in a statement.

“We wish David all the very best with his future.”

Nofoaluma’s departure from Wests will undoubtedly prick the ears of Super League clubs, as the 30-year-old is both a try-scoring machine and a formidable ball handler out of defence.
