If these design changes are accomplished, the road outfits will look quite similar to those worn prior to 1973.
Queens, New York — According to an exclusive story in Uni Watch, the Yankees plan to remove a detail from their road jerseys that has been on the uniforms since they were first debuted in 1973.
According to a page from the 2024 MLB Style Guide obtained by the site, Yankees road jerseys will no longer have a white outline around the chest lettering and back number, as well as white trim on the sleeve cuffs.
Without these embellishments, the road uniforms will resemble the flannel ones worn by the team before 1973.
The team’s road uniform design was last changed in 2016, when the words “New” and “York” were moved closer together, according to Uni Watch.
