AJ Dillon takes positive stride toward playing against the 49ers despite many injuries.
The Green Bay Packers used a variety of strategies to overcome the strongly fancied Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card game. Aaron Jones spearheaded an excellent running game. Jones may be able to rely on fellow running back A.J. Dillon in the divisional playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers.
The veteran running back has been sidelined by thumb and neck issues, but he returned to practice in a limited capacity Thursday. If the Packers can mount an efficient ground attack with Jones and Dillon, they should have a good chance of maintaining possession of the ball and limiting the number of opportunities for the explosive San Francisco 49ers to make huge plays on offense.
The Packers delivered their greatest game of the season,
defeating the Cowboys 48-32 in the Wild Card game. It’s unlikely they’ll be able to light up the scoreboard in the same way against the defensively competent Niners, but Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love appears to be playing his finest football at the most crucial time of year.
Love had a great day against the Cowboys, completing 16 of 21 throws for 272 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Jones rushed for 656 yards with a 4.2 yards per carry average this season, but he had a spectacular game against the Cowboys, totaling 118 rushing yards and three touchdowns. A.J. Dillon did not play against the Cowboys, but he finished the regular season with 613 yards and two touchdowns.
