The Dodgers reportedly sign a right-handed pitcher to a minor league deal.

The Dodgers are allegedly signing right-handed pitcher Jesse Hahn to a minor league contract, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. He joins left-handed pitcher Stephen Gonsalves as the Dodgers’ newest minor leaguer this week.

Hahn, 34, has lived in San Diego, Oakland, and most recently Kansas City. His career ERA and FIP are 4.22 and 3.93, respectively. He has experimented with a variety of pitch mixtures over the years. His repertoire has stayed consistent, including sinkers, sliders, and curveballs.

Hahn has struggled to stay in the major leagues due to bad performance or injuries. In 2015, he pitched a career-high 96.2 innings in 16 starts. From 2019 to 21 with the Royals, Hahn appeared in only 29 major league games.

The right-hander has not pitched at any level since 2021, making this an unusual signing. Clearly, the Dodgers see something worth working with, enough to give him a chance in the minors.

According to Ardaya, the deal includes an invitation to big league spring training, giving Hahn the opportunity to contend for a position on the major league roster.
