Good news: Notre Dame are happy to bring him back…..

2025 WR Jerome Bettis Jr. previews Notre Dame’s return.

Jerome Bettis Jr. visited Notre Dame many times last year and will return this weekend.

“I’m super excited,” the 2025 Georgia WR tells Irish Sports Daily. “Since the last time I was there, I’ve become closer to several of the commits and recruiters.

“I’m excited to see them again and I’m super excited to meet the new wide receiver coach down there.”

Bettis Jr. identifies quarterback commit Deuce Knight, defensive line commit CJ May, and safety commit Ethan Long.

“Obviously they’re good players, but the more that I’ve gotten to know them, they’re real good dudes, so I’m just excited to see them and hang out with them,” he said.

Bettis Jr.’s future as a receiver of Knight passes seems promising.

“Obviously, that’d be amazing,” he says. “He’s a highly wanted quarterback. He’s a terrific dual-threat. “Having him back there running the offense would be fantastic.”

The Woodward Academy standout has had preliminary discussions with incoming Notre Dame receivers coach Mike Brown.

I’ve gotten to know him a little bit, talked to him on the phone, and I know he’s coming from Cincinnati,” Bettis Jr. said. “Obviously, he’s an excellent coach. I’m just excited to get to know him, learn about how he coaches his players, and so on.

“For the most part, we focused on getting to know each other before moving forward. Kind of laying the groundwork for our relationship, and then obviously, this Junior Day will be extremely crucial, so I can see him face to face, get to know him even better, and finally go on to more football-related activities.

His first impressions of Brown are positive.

“Great dude,” he says. “He’s really cool and easy to get along with. I really like him, and I can tell just from his personality that he’s an excellent coach who gets along well with his players.”

Bettis Jr. has expressed interest in visiting Texas A&M next month. The Aggies offered him in May, while he was being recruited by Mike Elko’s staff at Duke.

He is also considering visits to Louisville and Georgia Tech.

He does not appear to be in a rush to make a final decision.

“I’d say I’m probably going to narrow it down this spring as recruiting starts to ramp up, just get to reach out to some of the schools that have been in contact with me and then from there, narrow things down and probably make a decision sometime over the summer.”
