Latest Update: Chelsea is interested in signing a ‘fantastic’ £55 million striker who has been compared to Erling Haaland and is ‘very swift.
Chelsea are reportedly keeping an eye on RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as they look for a new forward addition.
Chelsea have struggled to sign a top-tier forward to lead Mauricio Pochettino’s assault this January, with the club still linked with Victor Osimhen.
Time is running out for Chelsea to recruit a striker with only two weeks left in the transfer window, but a new name has emerged for the Blues.
According to the Evening Standard, £55 million-rated Slovenian international Sesko is now on Chelsea’s radar, with the 20-year-old forward currently playing in the Bundesliga with Leipzig.
Sesko, a Red Bull product, has been compared to Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland due to his massive physical size and vicious finishing in front of goal.
Chelsea’s previous technical director Christopher Vivell praised Sesko as a ‘very quick’ player, so it’s easy to see why the Blues are now keeping an eye on him, even if the finances for such a transaction may be hefty.
Chelsea should investigate Benjamin Sesko, if they can swap off players.
Any attacker like Haaland will attract interest from prominent European teams, and Sesko appears to be doing just that for Chelsea.
Given his youth, Sesko would fit well into Chelsea’s long-term plans under Todd Boehly, and Pochettino would be an excellent manager for the Slovenian international to grow under.
However, given how much Leipzig want for Sesko, Chelsea may have to sell a player or two to fund the transaction, as the Blues are currently limited in their market spending.
