Joo Palhinha of Fulham is keen to join Barcelona this month or in the summer.

According to Diario Sport, the Portuguese international wants to quit the Premier League club and join Barcelona.

Palhinha was entangled in a transfer scandal last summer when he was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich. The 28-year-old had even traveled to Germany for a medical in order to finalize his move to the German champions, but the deal fell through at the last minute due to Fulham’s failure to locate a replacement.

He remained with Fulham and extended his contract. However, rumors about him quitting the club have persisted. The midfielder is regarded as one of the finest in the Premier League at his position and has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal.

Barcelona, however, remains the favorite to recruit the midfielder, who aspires to play for the Catalan club.

It is well known that the La Liga giants are looking for reinforcements at the base of their midfield due to Oriol Romeu’s ongoing problems since coming in the summer. Sergio Busquets left the Spanish champions, and their failure to replace him has caused them problems this season.

According to Diario Sport, Palhinha has always wanted to play for Barcelona and is well-liked by Xavi’s teammates.

Due to financial difficulties, the La Liga giants are unlikely to invest the €60 million asking price established by Fulham. The deal is unlikely to take place this month, but a summer move is not out of the question if the Spanish club can improve their financial situation.
