Latest News: Rodri is expected to be suspended after yelling at referee Chris Kavanagh following Newcastle’s victory.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is facing an FA fine after criticizing referee Chris Kavanagh’s performance on Saturday evening.

City came from behind to beat Newcastle United, with Bernardo Silva’s first-half goal, a Kevin De Bruyne strike, and an Oscar Bobb late victory canceling out Isak and Gordon’s first-half goals for the hosts.

However, it was a game tainted by shocking officiating errors, in a performance that was picked up not only by Manchester City players on the night, but also in the aftermath.

In a post-match press conference at St James’ Park, Rodri slammed on-field referee Chris Kavanagh, calling him ‘unbelievable in a negative way’ in a game that saw the Spanish international receive yet another yellow card.

“To be honest, the referee (Chris Kavanagh at Newcastle) was unbelievable in a negative way,” Rodri said with a grin. “We don’t understand a lot of what happened. Some behaviors do not feel equal to us.”

“It’s difficult (to stay calm),” he continued. The referee doesn’t help much, but we don’t want the aid; we just want it to be fair in both directions, which I believe they weren’t on Saturday. This season, I’ve received seven yellow cards for two or three tackles.

Rodri was also quick to point out that Manchester City had yet another injury as a result of English football’s directive for assistant referees to hold flags down for tight offside calls until the phase of play was completed.

Ederson is the latest player to be injured as a result of a collision with an opponent player, following John Stones’ injury against Everton as a result of a very similar occurrence.

“I think it is ridiculous,” Rodri stated. “It could have been worse; thankfully, it was only a kick, but there are many injuries in this situation.” We must determine whether it is the best alternative to follow the game.

“This is something we have to look but they will decide, we have nothing to say this.”

Following the publication of statements on social media by Manchester City’s defensive midfield staple, Rodri, some people have predicted that he will face his third Football Investigation sanction of the season.

Rodri received a three-match ban earlier this season after receiving a straight red card in a Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, before receiving a single match ban due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Rodri might face another two-game suspension from Manchester City this season, with the player only three yellow cards away from a two-match ban, having got a total of seven yellow cards this season.
