Barcelona are interested in signing Newcastle united star Bruno Guimaraes.

The decision-makers at Barcelona have already begun the process of bringing in a high-profile midfield player.

Globo, a Brazilian publication, has this evening offered new information on the attempts made by the Blaugrana transfer staff to expand Xavi’s alternatives in the middle of the park.

Of course, everyone knows that Xavi and company are searching for midfield additions in preparation for the second half of the season.

This coincides with Gavi’s chronic injury, Pedri’s continuous fitness issues, and Oriol Romeu’s decline in play.

In response, a plethora of engine room players, including Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich, Aleix García of Girona, and Amadou Onana of Everton, have been mooted as possible additions in Barcelona this month.

However, if the most recent information released by the media on Friday is any indication, Deco and his staff seem to have added a new name to the top of their shortlist.

The player in query? Bruno Guimarães.

As to the aforementioned Globo, Barca regard Brazilian international Guimarães as the ideal addition, with the 26-year-old combining technical and muscular qualities in equal measure.

Newcastle United revealed a startling financial deficit for the 2022–2023 season, and the Catalans are eager to capitalize on the unexpected demand for tickets at St. James’ Park.

Already, attempts have been made to assess the financial needs for a deal by getting in touch with the Newcastle brass. Barcelona would ideally like to include at least one player in any transfer due to their own financial difficulties.

Furthermore, it is mentioned that Guimarães personally prefers a transfer to Camp Nou over Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

Even with the understanding between the midfield player and Newcastle on a reduction in his £100 million buyout clause in the event that Barca calls, it is highlighted that the operation would be “complex” to execute.
